Award Winners > Book Sense Book of the Year
Updated: Annually in the Spring since 1991
Book Sense Book of the Year Awards (formerly the ABBY Awards) is a bookseller's choice award. They are given each year in the adult and children's book categories. In 2001 the categories of Children's Illustrated and Nonfiction were added. The winners are selected from titles bookstore owners enjoyed recommending to their customers the most in the previous year. Check out the ABA's Book Sense Category Bestseller Lists and much more by visiting the ABA site.

Award Winners > Américas Award
Updated: Annually in the Spring since 1993
What fun to discover an award that specifically celebrates and honors the latin flavor in children and young adult literature! The award is given annually in the spring by The Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs (CLASP). It is given in recognition of U.S. works of fiction, poetry, folklore, or selected non-fiction (from picture books to works for young adults) published in the previous year in English or Spanish that authentically and engagingly portray Latin América, the Caribbean, or Latinos in the United States. Read more about this premio by visiting the CLASP site.

Award Winners > ALA Notable Books Award
Updated: Annually in January since 1944
In the words of the ALA itself, "Since 1944, the goal of the Notable Books Council has been to make available to the nation’s readers a list of 25 very good, very readable, and at times very important fiction, nonfiction, and poetry books for the adult reader." The titles are selected in January of every year by a twelve member panel from the American Library Association. Read more about the ALA Notable Books by visiting the ALA site.
