LEGO's sets honor Hans Christian Andersen

Click to enlargeThe LEGO Group is to partner the H.C. Andersen 2005 Foundation and HCA abc Foundation and celebrate Hans Christian Andersenís 200th birthday in April 2005. The partnership will involve a variety of activities in a LEGO environment Ė including the launch of several products based on the Danish writerís famous fairy tales.

In addition to editors and agents representing other genres, the 2005 conference faculty included two outstanding children's editors from New York: Nancy Siscoe, Associate Publishing Director and Executive Editor with Knopf Books for Young Readers and Tracy Gates, Executive Editor at Viking Children's Books.

2005 Newbery Award: Call for Suggestions

Out of the thousands of children books published every year, only one is selected to receive the Newbery Medal and a few others are named Honor books. It is the Association for Library Service to Children, ALSC, who awards the Newbery Medal to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. The Newbery Award Selection Committee follows specific terms, definitions and criteria in making their selection.You have to be an ALSC member in order to submit titles to the Newbery Committee for their consideration. December 17th is the deadline to send suggestions in. Then, in January, the 2005 Newbery winner will be announced.

Well, if you live in or near Larimer County, Colorado I have great news for you! Along with Cherry Sokolosky, I direct an adoptive parents support group under the auspices of Larimer County Human Services. I have also launched an adoption doings message board on the CCF site where you can join already going discussions on adoption or start one of your own.

A Tufts University's e-news article tells us that, Robert Munsch, "always had a passion for storytelling. While working at a daycare center, the Tufts graduate realized that children would be quiet and behave if he told them stories. Now, as one of Canadaís all-time best selling childrenís authors, Munsch has more than 40 million readers who are willing to listen."
