My favorite holiday title is:  Little House in the Big Woods

I am: Connie L. Hein, YA Novelist from Windsor, Colorado.

This book is my favorite because: "Christmas in this book is so simple and wonderful.  The focus is on the love and togetherness of family.  There are always descriptions of being warm and cozy in the house in the woods as Pa played the fiddle by the fire for Laura and Mary.  This always gives me a sense of peace and well-being."

  • Author: Laura Ingalls Wilder
  • Publisher: Avon Books
  • Ages: 3rd Grade to 7th Grade

Publisher Marketing: Where it all began...Laura Ingalls lives on the edge of the Wisconsin forest with her family. They work long, hard days, and spend their evenings by the fire, listening to stories and music. While they're safe inside, enormous trees tower over their tiny log cabin, and wild bears and wolves roam the woods at night, making their pioneer life both dangerous and exciting.

Connie L. Hein (Windsor, CO) grew up in Fort Collins then moved with her family to Windsor, Colorado in 1970. She was inspired to start her writing career in the early 1980's by her two loving grandfathers. Her paternal grandfather always told her wonderful stories of his childhood in Texas. Her maternal grandfather was a published author whose passion was writing and teaching people about God. She has been very passionate about getting the Toliver in Time series published because of her love of children and her desire to teach them what true patriotism means.
