I'm going to comment on the CCF review of The House of the Scorpion.

I agree. It was a terrific book. It was one of the best books I've read in my entire life, and seeing as though I'm only 15, I can honestly say that up to now. The book captivated me, and I indulged in its glory with every page I read. From the beginning to the end, I could not stop reading, and that is the second time that has happened to me because I don't read too much. If this book was so good for me to even think about coming on an educational site and commenting something about it, it must be good enough for all my peers to read. Which brings me to this case.

The ending of The House of The Scorpion was not satisfying. I wanted more. I wanted to read about how he was going to go about doing what he planned, would he tell anybody about the dead people in El Patron's tomb, would he end up marrying Maria? I do wish there would be either an extended version of the book, or a sequel, or if it could be re-written and added an epilogue to tell what happened, so most of the readers would be satisfied. I know when I finished the book, I had a tear, and I don't cry, rolling down my face because of disappointment and pleasure mixed into one. I even sent out an e-mail to my entire English 2 Honors class talking about good books and how they disappoint you. I mentioned The House of the Scorpion within that e-mail.

I was currently trying to find Mrs. Farmer's e-mail address so I could e-mail her what I am typing to you all, but oh well. I do wish this e-mail could get to her in some kind of way, because I would like for the House of the Scorpion to be taken into greater heights, maybe made a movie out of or something. I'd definitely go see it. But for the most part, I just want he to revise the book and add a good 100 pages more, or a 100-page epilogue to the book so we can all be satisfied with what happens.

I dream about The House of the Scorpion every night and think about what Matt had to go through, and it makes me feel empty to know that it wasn't over. And poor Tam Lin didn't have to die, and I'd like to know if the eejits were ever free. What happened to the Lost Boys at the plankton factory and also, what was Matt going to do now that he was the true El Patron? All of this puzzles me and I will not have restitution until I am satisfied with answers.
