Horrified I watch as the mist shapes itself into a human form without a face. Scared, I run screaming. A voice says, “Run towards the lighted street. Hurry! Get to safety!” “Nooooooo…,” I scream and barge inside the convenience store. “Close that door Daniel!” store clerk Mamma Josie exclaims. “I…I…..” my face is white and I can’t talk. Mamma Josie forces my head between my knees. “Hey no fainting on me,” she snaps. “Take deep breaths. Now explain why you come in looking like death walking.” “Death?” I stammer gulping. “At first, there is nothing. Then the mist forms into a person that I can see right through and a voice yells, “Run to safety!” I look up at Mamma Josie, pleading for her to believe me. Sighing, she takes my trembling hand, “Daniel. You saw a specter.” “Yeah.” Shaken, I ask. “I’m not going to die am I?” “No it doesn’t mean that.” “What does it mean?” “You were warned not to go that way. Why? I don’t have a clue,” she replies looking out the store window. “Just consider yourself lucky nothing bad happened and, by the way, Happy Halloween Daniel.”
