Emily and Sue's Thanksgiving Plan
By Leticia S., Contest #200811

For Thanksgiving this year, two good friends, Emily the Pumpkin and Sue the Turkey, were planning to run away, because they were tired of being picked and used for thanksgiving parties.

They both thought Fred the farmer and his family were evil. So one day Emily and Sue gathered all the other plants and animals in the farm and held a meeting telling them to throw their seeds, leaves, feathers and fur at the farmer when the wind blew, and luckily the wind blew a lot in Fall season.

On the day of pumpkin picking in the farm, the farmer came in with some other humans to begin picking the pumpkins. At that moment Emily began to think of when she was first planted as a seed, then grew into a seedling and all the times when Farmer Fred wet the soil so she could grow and it occurred to her that she was meant to grow and be picked. So she spoke to Sue, the turkey and they both agreed to tell everyone to hold on and not throw things at Farmer Fred, because they realized that he was only doing his job.
