Contests
A Change of Luck
By Diana Murray, Contest #200803

“For St. Patrick's Day this year,
for once, I hope I’m lucky.”

But as I made my wish, I stopped.
I stepped in something yucky!

“Oh great.” I sighed. I pulled my leg
to free my sticky shoe,

and dangling from the bottom was
a blob of gummy goo.

As I reached down to grab a stick
and clean the gooey mess,

I tripped and landed in the grass.
I ripped my brand new dress!

"Not again!" I flung my arms up,
yelling at the sky.

Just then, an acorn bonked me in
the head. I had to cry.

I hung my head down low. That's when
I found a four leaf clover,

and smiled because I knew that my
unlucky days were over.
