The Mystery of the Valentines
By Madison T., Contest #200702

I stood by the door holding a box of Valentines.  Somebody must have dropped them off. "Who could it be?" I asked myself. I was wondering who had dropped them off.  Oh well I went inside and opened up the Valentines. They all said I love you and be mine with hearts on it.  It was not even Valentine's Day. I kept on thinking.

I went to school the next day and I asked everyone at school, "Did you give me these Valentines?"  Everyone said, "No." But one kid said, "No, I don't even like you."

I had to figure it out. That kid, Sam is mean. I kept on thinking and thinking.  Later, when I was at home, my little brother Matt said, "HA!HA! Amanda has a boyfriend."

I said, "No I don't. Someone gave these to me." Then it had me thinking, maybe Matt gave these to me? I asked him, "Matt, did you give me these Valentines?"

"Okay, Okay, I did.  April Fools!"

"HA!HA! Very funny Matt."
