How to Find a Pot of Gold
By Diana Murray, Contest #200803

For St. Patrick’s Day this year, I hope I find a pot of gold.

Do you want to find a pot of gold?

You might think that sounds easy. After all, there’s one at the end of every rainbow, right?

But how do you know exactly where to dig?  Which side of the rainbow is the beginning? Which side is the end? It’s very hard to tell.

That’s where Leprechauns come in. They know just where to dig. And if you catch one of these little guys, he has to take you to the right spot. That’s Leprechaun Law. At least that’s what I’ve heard.

It’s easier to catch Leprechauns on St. Patrick’s Day because there are so many of them out celebrating.

That’s why you need to act fast.

First, build a Leprechaun trap. You can use a cardboard box and a pencil to hold open the “trap door.” Remember, Leprechauns love anything that’s green. For bait, you can use gold, or something that looks like gold. Leprechauns are very tricky, so you need to be creative.

Good luck catching a Leprechaun! Don’t forget to have a shovel handy in case you need to dig for treasure.
