Rainy Day Rainbows
By Shari Marshall, Contest #200805

Kyle was sitting in his wheelchair watching the rain fall.  He wanted an outside adventure but decided to make the best of it with an inside one.

That’s how it all started. Somewhere between the thunder and lightening magic happened!  Kyle found himself tipping forward to look at the rainbow attached to the bottom of his wheelchair. It dipped and climbed for miles.  Suddenly he found himself sliding on it!

As Kyle slid the colours washed onto him. He laughed as he got covered in red, orange, yellow, and green. He zoomed through soft clouds that tickled his nose.  He was above the storm now and could see the sky returning to a soft blue with wispy white patches.

He felt great as he slid to the edge of the rainbow’s arch.  This is what summers should feel like.  He whooped with joy as he slid faster down the rainbow’s far side.

Kyle woke and looked out the window at the sun. Now he could go outside.  As he turned the sight of the rainbow caught his attention, it started at the bottom of his walkway.  He’d have to check it out. Maybe it could lead to an adventure.
