Writing Techniques Seminar coming to Denver

...As discussed at the Pikes Peak Writers Conference....

On Saturday, May 17, Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers were honored to present best-selling author Mark T. Sullivan and his one-day seminar: Techniques for Writing Successful Commercial Novels.

The seminar included:

  • Premise: how to arrive at a controlling idea before you put the
    first word on paper. 
  • Research: how to use the facts of reality to refine the world
    you're writing about. 
  • Character development and why it comes before plot.
  • Story Development.
  • Writing Process: how to keep a reader hooked and how to keep
    yourself hooked.
  • Structural Analysis how to figure out how why your book doesn't stand upright.
  • How to know when your book is done and the art part is over, and,
  • Preparing yourself for Marketing: The cold truth of what it takes to succeed in today's cutthroat book World

The seminar ran from 10:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., at Union Stations Coffee House, 1091 S. Parker Road, Denver, next to the Galilee Church. Lunch was provided.

RMFW, Pikes Peak Members, and Nonmembers were welcomed.

$49 for advanced tickets, $59 at the door. This seminar was limited to the first 100 applicants. Advanced Tickets had to be purchased by May 9th.
