Dr. Jim Speer spoke to the World Future Society on April 23rd on "The Future of Self." He asked, "How has modernity and 'identity-shock' created the project of the self? And why are personal strategies now neccessary for confronting the future?"

His talk considered how cascading change now challenges our personal identities. Jim Speer is the president of Orionwebware, satisfying aesthetic impluses through web development. He earned advanced degrees in theology and sociology, with a specialization in modernity and urban history. Born and raised in Colorado Springs, he is a graduate of Palmer High School.
