Early registration is still available if you're planning to attend this year's RMC-SCBWI Fall Conference, October 8-9, 2005, in Golden, Colorado. There are book reviews, blogs, bestseller lists and CCF Top Picks posted to the site. There's a wonderful article, written by a high school student, on forming a successful young writers group. I've also posted to the CCF site two VoIP calling plans that are saving us lots of money here at the CCF office. Here's the CCF Bulletin with news and information recently posted to the CCF site:
NEW TO THE CCF SITE:
- News:
- Bestsellers:
Writing:
- Workshops:
- Book Reviews:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - YA novelist, Claudia Putnam, tells us what she really thinks of HP #6.
- Imani All Mine - Reviewed by Lessie Thibeaux, it's the story of Tasha, a fourteen-year-old unwed mother of a baby girl.
The Light of the Oracle - My only complaint about Victoria Hanley's new contribution to young adult literature is that it was over way too quick. I read it in a day.
- Notes on Uncle and Me: My Amazing Friend - Although some of the material in the book may not be suitable for younger children, young adults and up would read how Uncle never made excuses for himself or let obstacles stop him from reaching his goals.
- Authors:
- CCF Top Picks:
All Things Einstein - This year marks the 100th Anniversary of when Albert Einstein formulized his famous theory E=mc2. We've posted to the CCF sites some of the books that highlight his work and life.
- Skype: Free Internet Telephony that Works - We love using Skype both at our office and at home. You download it for free and if the person you're calling has it installed in their computer you can call each other and talk for free...and the sound quality is excellent!
- Vonage: The Broadband Phone Company - We use Vonage at the office and love the service and savings this VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) company provides.
Olgy's Blogs: Just launched! Read the blogs and share your comments!
- The Weight of Being Fat - If we know that fat does not define a person, why do we allow it to happen?
- Meet the World - Looking at the flags, and the interpretations that Doria has given the colors and symbols, the topics take a life of their own, don't they? They did for me.
When Dream Jobs Go Up in Smoke - Regretfully I have concluded that this particular "dream job" of mine has just gone up in smoke. Guess that's better than me going up in smoke were I to give out the type of info they wanted me to send them, huh?
REVISIT OLD FRIENDS: Click to view some of our favorite articles posted over the years.
Thank you for subscribing to our bulletin. Make the CCF site your own! Keep sending us your favorite links, news items, book reviews and questions we can design polls for. It's great to hear from our visitors and post their input to the CCF site. Also, let us know if you notice links that are not working. Let's keep the CCF site free of link rot!
All for now,
Olgy
