Jess looked up at the night sky so full of stars. “This is spectacular,” he said to his grandmother.
She smiled and asked, “Tea, my dear?” And then added, “Yes, it’s a good night for stargazing?”
Jess hugged her, “Thanks for allowing me to come here.”
“Anytime Jess,” she smiled back.
As they gazed up at the stars, Jess said, “Do you think?…”
“About being up there in space?” she replied with a twinkle in her eyes.
“Yeah about going out there among the stars,” he replied with a sheepish laugh.
“All the time, however, I get home sick and so must return to Earth.”
“Grandpa really loved going up in space, didn’t he?”
“What is wrong Jess? Are you having second thoughts about going?”
“I guess I am.” he replied drinking his tea. “I can’t shake this feeling, like something may stop me from going.”
“That is normal. Your grandfather was always nervous until he was in space,” she laughed at a memory.
“Really?”
“Oh yes, what you are feeling is normal, Jess. Traveling in space was all you two talked about when you were little. And now you're following in your grandfather's footsteps.”
