“Beware of man eating Turkey,” I overheard my mother say. She actually said that the comely turkey was coming tomorrow for Thanksgiving but I thought she meant ‘man eating.’
What if the turkey’s cock-a-doodle-doo breaks all of the windows in the house? And what if the turkey eats everyone when the clock strikes midnight? I was afraid the turkey was going to shoot laser beams out of its eyes.
I had to stop the turkey. I snuck out of the house with my father’s hunting gear and went to the turkey farm. The turkeys looked normal. They didn’t look dangerous. There was a box with a bunch of eggs wobbling and wiggling in it. Everything looked fine, except for the wiggling eggs.
I went home and went to bed but had trouble sleeping. When I woke up the next day, a delivery truck was at the door. My mom got one egg. I was scared but went on with my day. Dinner time came around and by now I was very scared. Mom called me over to see the egg and a comely turkey popped out of it! It was adorable. I guess ‘comely’ doesn’t mean ‘man eating’ after all.
