National Nothing Day finally arrived but this was nothing new for her. Dressed in rags, the bony structure of Christine moved along the road with nothing but a few flowers to sell. She hoped to earn a penny or two for herself; as today Christine was filled with a heart felt desire to eat something--even if it was a small cold piece of loaf.
She stood in front of the huge shop in the local street and looked upon every richly dressed passer-by. She hoped that some wealthy person would come to her and relieve her of the radiant flowers she was holding and also of the pain in her soul.
The shimmering hues of the sun dimmed and the whispering darkness arrived. But now, as the night time brought coldness, making the atmosphere solemn and serene, she lay on the ground. The moon shined softly upon the petals that lay scattered around her making them sparkle. Her last smiled was etched on her bright face as she rested there. She had been eternally relieved of the pain and burden of her soul, never to feel them again.
Meghna K. is from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. She writes us that, "I'm a twelve year old Indian girl and my name is Meghna. I'm a student and I love to read books. I like to play chess, do taekwondo, draw and paint, watch T.V (at all times!), listen to music and at times, day-dream!! And one of my favorite past-times is writing. I love to write. I am fond of having a paper and pen and writing short stories or poems. I also have my own blog named "Delve Into The Mind Of A Budding Blogger."
