Boating

The life jackets were in Sam's grimy hands. She threw one at me, and quickly donned hers. My fingers fumbled along the zipper, until they  found the pulley. I yanked it up as fast as I could, while Sam pulled me  into the boat. She scrambled to the front and gunned the engine.

Only an hour ago, my younger sister had been hot-wiring a car, and all I could do was sit in the back like a little kid. I guess she’d learned a few  things, having run away from home at the tender age of 15. And now I  was her accomplice. We drove to the shore.

The boat roared to life, and pulled me back to the present.

The cops were after us. We had been caught "stealing". It wasn't really stealing... was it? The car technically was mine, but I'd had to change my name when I left. I could hear the cops coming behind us. I turned, there were 3 officers pulling up to the shore.

Sam pushed the boat's speed up. But she lost control, the wheel spun,  and we smashed with a thundering noise into another boat. The only  question now was "What next?”
