I dug my toes into the soft white sand as I sat with my laptop and a stack of tedious paperwork I needed to do. Immediately, something stabbed my ankle. I yanked my foot upward, nursing it. To my surprise I discovered a tiny man with a miniature sword standing there.
"Why did you strike me?"
"To wake you."
"I am awake!"
"Oh, really? Then why haven't you done anything with your life - made more of yourself?"
"What do you suggest?"
"Only that you do something you love and do it well."
"Isn't it more important to make money?"
"Money is secondary to happiness, but will follow."
"Perhaps, but why have you chosen this method to enlighten me?"
"It's only one method that's been employed. You're dreaming your life away and must wake up! Live your dream! Now!"
"You're probably right."
"Will you try as I suggest?"
"I will."
I awoke on the bench. Had it all been a dream? I examined my foot and saw the wound. I saw too what looked like tiny footprints. Regardless, I'd made a promise. I kept it. I dreamt it. I believed it. I achieved it. So can you. Live your dream!
