Hiking Trip

The air smelled of summer rain as John and his dad were hiking in the woods. They planned to hike up the hill known as Rocky Hill. The sun was covered by clouds and a hint of rain was in the air.

They adjusted their hiking gear and continued to hike up the trail. There were branches covering the path and leaves crackled under their boots. An hour passed and they reached the half way point of the hike. They stopped and pulled out some water and turkey sandwiches. John was curious about the weather. He looked up at the sky, noting that it was beginning to drizzle. So he asked his father if they should head back, rather than be caught in the rain. His father left the choice up to him so John thought about it and decided to continue on since he did not want to quit the hike.

Five minutes later, they started to hike back up the trail. Thirty minutes later, they reached the top of Rocky Hill, and John could not believe the view. They walked around the top of the hill then started the long hike back down.
