He smelled something burning as he came in the house.

"Mom, I’m home. Get the barbeque ready," he shouted and walked through all the rooms trying to find out where the odor was coming from.

"Sally and Mandy, what did you burn again?" Jake asked his sisters. "Where is everyone? I thought we were going to have that Barbecue today!"

The girls didn't answer and, getting anxious, Jake quickly walked into the kitchen. There was no one there. Cautiously he stepped through the open door

"SURPRISE!" Everyone shouted.

He stumbled back through the door scared out of his wits. "Ahhh, Mom. What is going on? What’s burning? I can smell it clear through the house," he stammered.

"Oh that is your father burning the hamburgers," his mom replied. “It’s not cooked dead if it's not burnt."

“OK. I get the hint,” Jake replied. Laughing, he took over the grilling duties. "Let's have a barbeque, shall we?" he called out.

"YEAH" his brothers Adam and Alexander shouted.

"Where were you two hiding?" Jake asked.

"Right behind you. We were following you," Alex smirked at him.

"Good job," said Jake, "I did not see you until now. Come on, let's eat."
