Last Chance

Waving frantically at the street car wasn’t making any difference. I could see the driver, but I could also see that he could not see me. He was about to drive away, and I would never see him again. Had I not spent the last year wanting to talk to apologize for what I had done?

The tears blinded me as I raced forward as fast as I could towards my love. People said that it wasn’t possible to be in love with someone at 18. But they were wrong. True love wasn’t something that happened at a certain age. It wasn’t even that feeling that everyone talked so much about. It was the act of loving someone with absolutely everything you had, and that amazing feeling came from that. It was what he had done for me, never ceasing.

Finally, my anxious, waving hands caught his attention. Shock could be found in every one of his features as he registered me running towards him. It didn’t matter that the light was green. It didn’t matter that there were cars behind him. I tripped over the road, but he was there. He caught me, and never let me go.
