Once upon a time my life was ruined! It happened one bleak morning after I learned that I did not make the varsity soccer team. I am the best defender in soccer that I have EVER seen! How dare they not accept me into the team, I’m like so valuable!
My parents told me not to worry, but I was still sad. So I locked myself into my room and practiced the ancient art of…watching feel-good movies. All of my friends had made the team and they stink compared to my skills. I told them this and they got angry. Go figure!
The next day at school, my friends ignored me. The coach snubbed me and the only people who talked to me were the new J.V. teammates. I skipped practice because the Varsity team was practicing nearby and I didn’t want to be seen.
On my way home, I saw my friends and there was nowhere to hide! To my surprise, they told me that it was ok to be upset, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of our friendship! I was so happy that I went back to soccer…and now, a year later, I’m on Varsity!
