Cupid was at it again! The young man reeled, stumbled and clutched at his chest as if he had been struck! “I love you!” he cried, “I truly love you!”
“How do you know that?” she asked, unimpressed. Cupid had not hit her with his arrow!
“My heart goes ‘tick, tick, tick, tick,’ loudly in my ears. You must be able to hear it!” he answered.
“No, I can’t hear it!” Lifting her hands and curling her fingers like claws, she hissed and said, “Meow, Meow!”
“Woof, woof, woof,” he replied.
She tossed her hair and began to walk away, calling, “What are you?—ticking and barking—a watch dog?”
