It was not that Sam didn't appreciate his mom cooking a nutritious meal. He looked at the table and saw whole wheat bread, steamed broccoli, tossed salad with soy beans and sprouts, grilled chicken and for dessert angel food cake and berries. He was just getting tired of all the nutrition. He never fell asleep in class, for that he was grateful, but for lunch at school he didn't have pop or chips or candy or peanut butter and jelly.
"What do you have today?" asked his best friend Jamal.
"Veggie roll up with ricotta cheese on whole wheat, yogurt and strawberries and grape juice" complained Sam.
That night Sam went to sleep longing for a Big Mac, Fries and a coke. He couldn't remember the last time he had fast food. There it was in front of him a Big Mac, fries and a coke. He picked up the Big Mac and it turned into wheat bread and soy burger, baked fries and diet cola. Yuck! He awoke with a start remembering his Mother's delicious grilled chicken seasoned perfectly and the very tasty veggie rollup he had for lunch.
Suddenly he was very thankful for a mom who loved him enough to feed him food that would help his mind and body grow.
