Backward Day was here and I was already behind. I should have been falling asleep, not waking up. Oh well, I guess some of this will be out of my control.
Getting dressed took longer than usual, putting a shirt on backwards was easy; pants and shoes were a lot harder. It was tough buttoning my blue jeans and my underwear got stuck in the zipper twice. Boy, girls sure have it easy, just turn the skirt around and off you go.
Not being able to put my shoes on backwards, I settled for putting them on the wrong foot. I asked for dinner after saying “Goodnight” to my Mom. She said I had to have breakfast, another thing out of my control.
As I walked backwards to school, I noticed I was the only one being different. When I saw my teacher, Ms. Reed, I said, “Goodbye, Ms. Reed, have a nice day.”
Ms. Reed smiled at me and said, “Tommy, ‘Backward Day’ just means we are reversing the way we do things today.”
Boy, I wish she would have said something before I sat down. This is most uncomfortable and embarrassing.
