Saint Patrick's Day Princess

"For Saint Patrick's Day this year I want to be the Saint Patrick's Day princess," said Tatyana to her family.

Tatyana was an eighteen year old girl from Virginia. Every year at the town plaza there was a Saint Patrick's Day princess crowned. The town's citizens voted to decide which girl received the honor. Tatyana's two sisters had both been crowned in the past, but never Tatyana. She felt embarrassed and sad about this.

"This year it is going to be me. Nobody can stand in my way!" she told herself. The event would take place on March 31, 2008. So Tatyana walked around the town plaza and asked people to vote for her. Many folks said they would, but how would she know that they meant it?

When the day came to select the Saint Patrick's Day princess, Tatyana found out she was one of three finalists. She stepped onto the platform as the other two girls were cut out of the competition. It was a special moment when the organizers said "Congratulations Tatyana. You are the winner of the Saint Patrick's Day Princess Contest!"

And so that became the best day of her life.
