"Frankly, my dear, Earth Day is upon us and you should give a damn." Rhett kissed her before he headed out for the meeting.
Scarlett sighed. You would think after twenty years of marriage his pet phrases would be endearing. At first, they were. Many people said their marriage wouldn't last. I mean everyone has read their story. But what most people don't know is that Rhett came back...after a short cooling off period and a twelve-step program.
They renewed their vows at the damaged city building and Rhett got a job as an insurance adjuster. Together they raised two children and as a couple had brought Tara back to its original splendor. But Scarlett remembered how sexy he was when he was walking out on her.
Today, as Earth Day Captain for their sprawling Atlanta neighborhood he was downright boring. Climate change, global warming, CO2 diet, "shade grown" coffee, over-fishing, these were the topics of most dinners at Tara.
But Scarlett missed the passion. And Rhett was passionate about Earth Day. Maybe, just maybe, she should get onboard. She would think about it tomorrow, the Earth could wait. "After all, tomorrow is another day."
