A Staircase to my Beloved

She took one of the mysterious seeds and tossed it.  Then she closed her eyes, in faith believing that something good would happen.  A big transformation took place as the seed gently touched the ground.  It became a golden staircase that seemed endless.  Its brilliance radiated and caused her to open her eyes.  The scenery that greeted her left her in total amazement.  She could not explain her emotions as she heard a sweet calming music from an unseen heavenly choir.

She climbed the staircase, wondering where it would lead. The music got nearer. She felt goose bumps upon realizing that a door was opening as if to welcome her final steps. She stopped and an inexplicable loneliness filled her.  Her tears began to fall uncontrollably when a cold gust of wind embraced her.  She knelt and buried her wet face in her hands.

The door opened and an angel came out, walked towards her, took her hands, and helped her stand. Her loneliness became happiness.  The angel was her beloved fiancé! She had not seen him since he was sent on a mission because of war.

Finally, God has heard her heart's prayer and they were reunited once more.

Arlene Bania [Buyoan Legazpi City, Philippines] has been writing since her elementary school years and loves doing so, "precisely because it freely expresses my emotions… But my happiness is doubled when somebody appreciates my works of art… And I know through writing I could relate to other people and share with them what life is all about in its truest sense."
