Trixie's Panic

With July 4th coming up, Trixie was becoming extremely nervous. She hoped she would be able to slip away and escape to her safe place in the woods. She hated July 4th.

She had searched and searched and finally found an old tree stump where if she crawled inside and squeezed her head in just right, both her ears were so squished she couldn’t hear anything.

On the dreaded day, Trixie found herself trapped in the house with no means of escape. As the hours passed, her fear grew and grew and she began to tremble violently. As the sun slowly set, she began to abandon all hope. Then, suddenly, the front door burst open.

Faster than you could imagine, she was out the door and heading for the woods. Trixie had never run so fast before but she made it. She crammed herself into the stump and squished her ears as much as she could.

Shaking her head at Trixie’s panic, Sally went out into the yard to marvel at the fireworks and wonder why every year Trixie went tearing off into the woods just as the fun began. Kaboom! Kaboom! Kaboom! Silly dog, she’s missing all the fun!
