The Vacation That Changed my Life

It was not that Sam didn’t appreciate his mom cooking a nutritious meal, it’s just he got sick of it.

“Mom, can we go out to eat? It has been almost half a year!” Exclaimed 10 year-old, Sam.

“If you eat your rainbow foods you will grow as tall as other kids in your grade” said mom.

“O.K.” whined Sam.

The next few days went by and nothing happened.  He got mad and ran into the living room and yelled “How can you lie to me on summer vacation!”

“About what?” Asked mom.

“You said I would grow if I would eat a nutritious meal and it’s been a week!” He ran into his room and slammed the door.

That summer Mom and Sam flew to Mexico.  When they arrived in Mexico they had stuffed peppers for lunch.  For supper they had tortillas with lots and lots of vegetables. For breakfast they had burritos. Sam realized the meals in Mexico were not as good as the meals at home.

When they got home Sam was thankful and appreciated the nutritious meals his mom cooked.
