I'm a retired children's teacher/librarian learning to write for children. My focus is on multi-cultural children's stories, fiction and non-fiction, with an emphasis on Hispanic culture of the Southwest.
I write authentically about my colonial Hispanic culture of New Mexico and Colorado through fictional stories and non-fiction materials and hope to be published. My passion is learning about my culture and sharing this knowledge. I have traced some of my family lines to the first families of present day New Mexico in 1598 and also have a Colorado Pioneer license plate.
Currently I have over 255 items related to the Southwest in my personal library. These items include genealogical materials, reference materials, adult and children's books, cookbooks and CDs.
As a teacher, I have presented my culture through history, art, music and storytelling to many students of various ages. These lessons are interactive and meet many curricular standards.
