Sex on Campus: Risky Business
Nov 7, 2003
Gary Gately, HealthDay Reporter for www.4woman.org has posted a good article on how risky unprotected sex is. He quotes Dr. Michael Durel, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology at the Ochsner Clinic in Baton Rouge, La., saying the media is much to blame for this behavior. Dr. Durel tells us college kids think that, "If you're having fun, you got to have a beer in your hand and a babe in your arms; to have fun, you got to drink, you got to be sexually active." Do you think that's how college kids think?  Visit Website ]  Message board ]

Who Gave The Kids Reasons To Commit Suicide?
May 17, 2003
"We have given our kids a material world that will never satisfy their lusts. We have instilled in them the concept of a beautiful after-world in which they can start everything afresh. We have allowed our world to turn into a breeding ground for depression. We have given all unsatisfied children one reason after another to take their own lives." From the Editor's Desk at sinchew-i comes this most chilling reporting and analysis of youth in Singapore...very applicable to youth worldwide.  Visit Website ]  Message board ]

Internet Offers Advice on Talking to Kids about War
April 26, 2003
"Combat is abating in the war with Iraq, but war images still surround us. How much should you let your kids see? What should you say if your children ask why we dropped bombs instead of 'using our words'? These questions and many more like them are difficult to answer. Fortunately, many Internet sites have addressed these issues and can provide guidance." Another wonderful article by Jinny Gudmundsen, a nationally recognized children's software expert.

Self-Image: Make Peace with Your Body
Jan 27, 2003
A good article for parents to read and talk through with their children, especially teens. It relates the importance of learning to love yourself and building a positive self-esteem. The case studies are good. The links lead to good wholesome recipes. Just watch out for the diet links and do not get caught up in the diet craze. Steady, thoughtful realignment of our thinking process would get us further in learning to love our bodies and treat it with the respect they deserve.  Visit Website ]  Message board ]
